On the Lotusphere 2008 I saw a great tip. It showed how to customise some of the more unhelpful errors on the Lotus Notes clients and make them useful, by replacing the error text that pops up on the client, with something you put in instead.  Very very nice.....

Now you can change the:

 "An error was encountered while opening a window."

 via (notes.ini): Err_2EBB=An error was encountered while opening a window. Please reboot your system.

 to: An error was encountered while opening a window. Please reboot your system.

Telnet is now made an optional component in Vista (and Longhorn Servers). This means if you type telnet in command shell, you will be out of luck.

To get this usefull tool back, you can use the software explorer or Click Start, Control Panel, Programs, and then Turn Windows Features on or off. In the list, scroll down and select Telnet Client. Click OK to start the installation.
